Welcome to SNITCH StatsSNITCH was created in 2006 by Paul Lowton and effectively is a home-made project. SNITCH and the website are completely not for profit, any proceeds made (hah!) by the adverts you see on the site go towards running costs only. SNITCH was created to be a simple stats program providing webmasters simple, easy to view information about their websites. Initially envisioned to be of use to those with personal or simple websites, SNITCH grew and is now an impressive collection of reports and tools to help every website understand their visitors, whether real or not. Since it was a home-made project, you're probably wondering why I created for myself? No, of course you're not. But I'm going to tell you in case you find it at all useful to know. SNITCH began life as "b*tch stats" (replace the '*' with an 'i') as a kind of joke name. It was created to track individuals through a website and was developed as a way of testing websites, the way they are indexed by search engines and spiders, and how users search their way around the site. While much of the tracking programming for B*TCH Stats was already in place when I found it, I must mention the free tool: BBClone - a german PHP-based "web counter". BBClone uses (what was for me at the time) a truly eye-opening interface compared to the standards stats analyzer programs. For PHP websites, I highly recommend you install BBClone into your web-pages, even to the expense of not using SNITCH. However, as B*TCH Stats progressed, it soon became clear that some of the ideas I had "borrowed" for B*TCH Stats would have to be very much re-thought for the programming for SNITCH. Nonetheless, a big "thank you" to the BBClone who inspired the creation of the original (and internal project) B*TCH stats. SNITCH uses a Microsoft SQL Server database and is written in ColdFusion. SNITCH can be used on any website by just including a tiny bit of javascript code on every web page on the site. If you have any questions about SNITCH, please feel free to contact us using our contact form. What does SNITCH stand for? I assume it stands for something?Hmm...good point. When I've thought of something I'll get back to you. We've had the following suggestions: Semi-New Internal Tool Calculating Hits Sasquatch-Neutering International Tackle-Crunching Hammer |
